The Backstory
GEICO has a partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB). The partnership made GEICO the Official Insurance Partner of MLB. As part of the partnership, GEICO has the right to use MLB marks and logos in its advertising and marketing campaigns, as well as at various MLB events and initiatives.
In addition, the partnership also includes digital and social media activations, as well as in-stadium promotions and events.
Overall, the partnership between GEICO and MLB is aimed at enhancing the fan experience and promoting both brands to a broader audience.

The Challenge
My assignment was to produce a 20-second video ad to promote an MLB filter I had previously designed. Drawing on the insights gained from the research I had conducted for the filter, I began to sketch and storyboard ideas for the video ad.
One of the primary challenges I faced was creating a video that would resonate with a broad range of MLB fans rather than just those who supported a particular team. To address this challenge, I focused on developing a concept that would showcase the excitement and energy of the MLB experience.

The Solution
Throughout the creative process of developing the 20-second video ad to promote the MLB filter, I worked closely with the GEICO team to ensure that the ad aligned with the company’s brand guidelines and messaging. In addition, I incorporated feedback from user testing to refine the visuals and messaging for maximum impact.
One of the key challenges was capturing the user’s attention within the first three seconds of the video while maintaining a smooth and energetic flow from start to finish. To achieve this, I leveraged a pre-existing gecko animation with an alpha channel, which allowed me to seamlessly integrate the gecko into my composition and build the scene around him.
I carefully crafted the visuals and messaging to appeal to a broad audience of baseball fans. The final video ad was a dynamic and engaging piece that effectively achieved its goal of promoting the filter and driving engagement with the brand.
